山东十一运夺金:The Best Dresses From The Spring 2020 Bridal Collections

From Vera Wang to Carolina Herrera, all the runway highlights from the New York collections.

Whether the look is unadorned a la Meghan Markle, all about florals and bold blooms, or unapologetically edgy, the Spring 2020 collections spoke to a more modern, nuanced bride—the woman looking to emphasize her personal style, rather than play the role of a princess. From Vera Wang to Monique Lhuillier, Oscar de la Renta to Carolina Hererra, these are the best looks from Spring 2020 Bridal.

    Monique Lhuillier

Consistently inspired by the dreamy landscapes of Italian and French villas and chateaux, Monique Lhuillier merged regal silhouettes with the ease and effortlessness of a flower child for a look that's equal parts ethereal and elegant. Au courant details like touches of emerald and sage hues, high-low hemlines, and tulle jackets and capes that transformed silhouettes from basic ballgowns to elevated ensembles were standouts. Also unforgettable: a fully floral printed, off-shoulder gown (pictured here) that felt undeniably bridal, but would make for a breathtaking moment on any red carpet.

    Vera Wang

A free-spirited, 360-degree take on design and a "flower mad" mentality resulted in Vera Wang's latest bridal offering of 16 dresses that epitomize what it means to create wearable works of art. From a spray of blooms scattered in the train to oversized blossoms on shoulders, waistlines, and underneath skirts working as petticoats, this season might just be Vera Wang's best yet.

These silhouettes will have brides and guests discovering design details with each glance—from painted prints and sheer elements, to artfully crafted flowers and bold combinations of color that could potentially have been influenced by a chic box of Laduree macarons. Wang, of course, has been spending time at the infamous Parisian patisserie, given her collaboration with the bakery last season.

    Danielle Frankel

The words one would use to describe Danielle Frankel's bridal collections aren't adjectives one typically associates with the world of weddings. While romantic, ethereal, glamorous, and bohemian are popular descriptors for any of the collections on offer in the bridal category, Frankel's work is handsome, edgy, and at times, badass. Her flair for downtown silhouettes with an uptown polish has captured the likes of a modern, fashion-forward customer looking to purchase the looks she loves ASAP. Case in point: Frankel's quick pick-up by Net-a-Porter, and her launch of knitwear for Spring 2020, which she plans to sell on her own site as well as her e-tailers along with her Fall 2019 Objet Collection, her capsule of jewelry and accessories.

More of that new new? Frankel's first handbag, which will join the remainder of her Objet pieces for sale online and through her stores. It seems Frankel is full of surprises, and her loyal following of It-girl brides seems fine to play by her new set of bridal rules.

    Oscar de la Renta

What was once a house of classic silk faille and lace gowns is still a house of silk faille and lace bridal staples—but it's also so much more. This season, Fernando Garcia and Laura Kim of Oscar de la Renta hit their stride in speaking to the woman looking for more than just her ceremony look, but there were countless options in that department, too. The collection opened with a fringe-trimmed mini that would stun at any after party, and finished with a feather-covered midi dress that felt special enough for the aisle.

The finale was undoubtedly a riff on one of their best looks from Fall 2019, which Lupita Nyong'o donned to the Academy Awards. Other highlights included a bustier and slim-fit pant ensemble, and a riff on a gown from their Resort 2019 collection, featuring a high-low hem. It's clear that Garcia and Kim are committed to bridging the gap between their bridal and ready-to-wear offerings in ways this house hasn't before. If this is what happens when the most classic of brands bucks tradition, we say: break all the rules.

    Carolina Herrera

Wes Gordon's latest range of bridal looks was all about "lightness and purity"—and seemed dedicated to a decidedly more youthful audience. The newly minted Creative Director of Carolina Herrera has taken the sophistication and the elegance rooted at the core of the brand's DNA infused a "spirit of joy" and "an effervescence" to the bride's look.

While the Herrera bride of yore may have been austere at times, this bride is still a sophisticate and a society girl, but she isn't afraid to laugh, dance, or rock a jumpsuit with a removable lace cape.

    Costarellos

Christos Costarellos has proved his prowess for an elevated bohemian aesthetic, and he's at it again—with a slew of new laces and innovative fabric mixes. The brand has become the darling of It-girl and fashion brides alike looking to add polish to boho vibes, and his knack for playing with coverage and sheerness, luxe layers that still feel light, and inventive silhouettes shone through (yet again) for Spring 2020.

An Athens native, Costarellos is always inspired by Greek history and mythology, and turns to modernizing goddesses like Aphrodite in his work. This season, a stronger high priestess emerged in the form of separates and sharp tailoring. Apparently, even a badass bride in a Katherine Hepburn inspired ensemble of a bias-cut satin skirt, swiss dot blouse, and a sharply-tailored blazer can still be a goddess.
